I'm having a show at Bucci's Restaurant, 6121 Hollis St. in Emeryville, CA. 94608 from January 8th to February 4th, 2011. The opening will be on January 12th from 4 to 6 pm.
I'm happy that I've got an abundance of framed pieces ready to go . The frames I had made this summer are much classier than the older ones so I may upgrade another one for Bucci's.

In October I found a new studio as the building I'd been working in is closing at the end of the year for seismic upgrading. I'm delighted by my new space , the landlords and the other artists/craftspeople tenants. I moved with the help of my friends Steve and Bill- a big thank you to them. I'm finally settling in and painting again. I'm planning an Open House after the holidays.

My opening on August 21st at the LightRoom in Berkeley was a delight- thank you to all my friends and collectors who came. My six large original watercolor/acrylic paintings, two of them newly framed, looked wonderful along the east wall. Smaller giclee prints and a few originals filled the rest of the space.

I'm back at work after almost a month off preparing for my show. I feel exhilarated. I'm persevering on a close-up I considered " too difficult". Now it has so many different colors and textures- the eye is especially intricate , a little planet all of its own. Reminds me of the view of the human eye I saw at the optometrist when my ex-husband's iris was injured with a fleck of metal debris- it looked like a small crater on Saturn. The fish eye is more psychedelic and definitely intact.
Tomorrow I pick up finishe giclees at the printers. The Fire of summer is lighting up every aspect of my life .

UPCOMING SHOW !

I'm getting ready for my show at the LightRoom , 2263 5th St.Berkeley, CA. from August 16th to Sept. 6th. The opening is Saturday August 21st from 2 to 5 p.m. Half of the show will be giclees- fine art prints of my original paintings- made by Rob Reiter, the owner of the LightRoom. The rest will be my original watercolor/ acrylics on paper. I've made two larger works- 22" x 30"- for the show. I'm excited to see them framed and in suspense about price increase since last time I had a large piece framed ! I cant wait to see two different sizes of the same work on the walls- I'm having smaller giclees made of the two new works. I'm pondering possibilities for next year's show. Several deadlines are coming up this summer so I'm gearing up on all fronts. I look forward to having a great time with you all, whether you are able to be there in person or in spirit. Enjoy the rest of the summer. We're waiting for fall here in San Francisco for our toasty weather !

These are my latest paintings, a moray eel and a sea dragon. I'm working with a smaller #1 brush , 1/8" wide and pointy - marking pens bleed with water, which is annoying . I'm working more slowly and carefully, savoring each stroke. It reminds me of my first paint-by-number but I get to design and paint it.
My recent trip to Kansas for my son's wedding was wonderful- I love his bride who is beautiful inside and out. I was able to visit the wonderful Nelson Atkins Museum in Kansas City twice. I really wanted to see the larger than life-sized gilded statue of Kwan Yin, the Chinese Goddess of Compassion. I've seen her reproduced so many times and used her image in some fun collages in the early '90s. She was hidden behind a screen, quite befitting her modesty , as a new exhibit was being installed- I took a peek through the joints of the screen and a blurry photo too. My English brother commented "You wouldn't find a museum of this quality in a city of similar size in the UK." It was like a mini British Museum, so many different cultures were represented. I'll be going back there for sure. I didn't get to the African art.
